Melbourne Zoo - baby Pygmy Hippo

Melbourne Zoo

Melbourne Zoo is a window on the world's wildlife -- and only 4km from the city centre!

In the African Rainforest, see gorillas, monkeys, and a new arrival -- a Pygmy Hippo calf. The Asian Rainforest is home to the endangered orang-utans, tigers, and Asian Elephants.

You can see Australia's own wonderful wildlife in the Australian Bush exhibit, including koalas, wombats, kangaroos, and echidnas.

Inside the amazing Butterfly House hundreds of colourful tropical butterflies from northern Australia flutter around Zoo visitors, sometimes even sitting on someone's head or hand.

Don't miss the beautiful Snow Leopard cubs!

The Zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm, plus later on some summer evenings for the Zoo Twilights concert series.
